  1. What does KIA do?
    The Kenya Institute of Administration (KIA) is a Public Management Development Institute. The Institute was established by the Kenyan Government in 1961. The main role of the institute is to build human resource capacity and enhance management skills. This in turn will ensure Kenyans get the results they expect from the public service.
  2. Do you only train Government officers?
    No, although we mainly train public officers. However, we also train personnel from the private sector and Non government organizations.
  3. Do you have a branch in Nairobi central business district?
    No we don’t. All our lecture halls are within the Institute at Lower Kabete, Nairobi. However, we also conduct training at venues that are proposed by clients.
  4. How do you get to KIA?
    We are situated in Lower Kabete, Nairobi. From Westlands, you take Lower Kabete Road (at the Sarit Centre round about) all the way to KIA. The public transport to KIA is Number 118. It’s boarded at the Old Nation House, in Nairobi city centre.
  5. What are the charges for your courses?
    The charges vary. Contact us for more information.
  6. Who are targeted for those programmes?
    The main target group is senior managers.
  7. Do you offer your facilities for hire?
    Yes, for training and retreat activities. The Conference Centre is also available for hire. Contact us, for bookings.

    We will be offering soon.
  10. Do you have part time programmes?
    No. All our courses are short term, ranging from one week to 1 month, on a full time basis.
  11. Can one opt to be a non-resident?
    Yes. Nonetheless, we have hostels with a capacity of 220 persons.
  12. Can one be able to reschedule his /her programme incase he /she is not able to attend the ongoing?
    Yes, upon consultation with Admissions office.
  13. KIA staff appear quite motivated?
    What’s the reason? KIA staff are driven by the call of public service and excellence. They are professionals.
  14. How can one be a full time or guest lecturer at KIA?
    KIA advertises for vacant positions, both full time as well as part time.
  15. How did KIA transform the attitude of employees to a customer focused and results oriented attitude?
    This has been achieved through culture change management.
