Fostering networking and professionalism for global competitiveness

BACKGROUND

The Association, African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) Kenya Chapter was registered on 2nd December, 2007 and launched on 7th December 2007 as AAPAM (K).  To reflect that it is a Kenya Chapter of the mother AAPAM Continental, it became necessary to change the name to KAPAM in 2008.

PURPOSE


The purpose of the Association is to provide public service administrators and managers with an opportunity for continuous learning through a professional body.  The Association aims at promoting networking, sharing of knowledge and experiences in a rapidly changing public service work environment.

OBJECTIVES

i) To foster the networking of associations, organizations and individuals interested in the progress of public administration and management.

ii) To create and maintain the tradition of providing administrators, managers, academia and institutions with an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on the best practices in public administration and management.

iii)To promote the professionalism of public administration and management by adopting more effective and harmonious administrative and management systems and practices in Kenya Public Service.

iv) To promote research, documentation and dissemination of information on innovative strategies for improving public administration and management.

v) To foster relations with international and national bodies and organizations interested in the study and practice of public administration and management

MEMBERSHIP

KAPAM is open to all public and private sector administrators and managers and has the following categories of membership:

  • Corporate
  • Individual
  • Student
  • Honorary

BENEFITS

Some of the benefits for joining the association include:   Networking within the region and beyond with other Public Administrators and Managers; access to AAPAM newsletters, books, AAPAM’s annual communiqué and reports; and sponsorship of KAPAM officials to continental AAPAM conferences.

RIGHTS

All categories of members shall be entitled to participate in the deliberations of the Association.

OBLIGATIONS

Members will be expected to promote the objectives of the Association in everyway.  They will be expected to observe all their obligations under the constitution including payment of the annual subscriptions and subventions at the beginning of every financial year.
