H.E President  Mwai Kibaki and Rt Hon. Prime Minister Raila Odinga at KIA
H.E. The President of the Republic of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki President of the Republic of Kenya, was at KIA on Friday 5 February 2010 to open a two (2) workshop for Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers and Chief Executives of State Corporations. The theme of the workshop was ‘Leadership and Integrity in the Public Service. Over 200 participants attended the workshop at the KIA Conference Centre. In his speech the President, pointed out that there was urgent need for a national integrity system that seeks to eliminate corruption and which provides focused leadership in the public service.
He asserted that the Government is committed to the elimination of corruption. He challenged the Accounting Officers to take their responsibilities very seriously and to ensure that there is no wastage and abuse of resources.
The event was also graced by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, Rt. Hon. Raila A. Odinga.  In his speech, the Prime Minister pointed out that the Accounting Officers are entrusted by the public for the overall management and administration of the ministries and parastatals.
Also in attendance were the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Ambassador Francis Muthaura and Minister of State for Public Service Hon. Dalmas Otieno.
